What's New in BankLink Practice 2011?
Provisional Accounts
- New bank account type available through The BankLink Service
- Request provisional accounts via the Third Party Authority Form
- Request provisional accounts for:
- Bank accounts with institutions that are not available via The BankLink Service
- Accounts from institutions that don't provide all of their accounts to BankLink, for example: some personal credit cards
At system level you can:
- Import transactions supplied by your clients into provisional accounts
- Manually enter transactions into provisional accounts
At client file level you can:
- Code and report on provisional accounts in the same manner as a standard bank account
Job List
- Include the Job List when sending Coding Reports via Scheduled Reports
What's new from September 2010
System Options - Interfaces tab
- Added the option to ignore zero amount transactions when the transactions are extracted to a data file ready to be imported into your main accounting system by enabling the Include zero amount, narration only, entries when extracting data checkbox
Finding a transaction
- You can find an entry in the Code Entries Screen using the Find field to search all columns, the current Code Entries Screen is filtered to display transactions that match the search value and hides all other transactions
- You can use the Clear button to remove all values from the Find field which refreshes the Code Entries Screen Grid to display all transactions
GST Transitional Return
- Following the government's Budget 2010 announcement, the GST Rate will increase from 12.5% to 15% from 1 October 2010
- If a customers' GST return period does not end on 30 September 2010, they will need to complete a transitional return for the first period on, or after, 1 October 2010
- For GST Returns which have a taxable period that spans the date of the rate change, a GST Transitional Return will be displayed in BankLink Practice
- On any GST Return that includes September 2010, you see a link to the GST105 which is the IRD's GST rate change adjustment calculation sheet. Follow the instructions provided by the IRD to determine whether you need to complete the GST105, and if so, where to add the information on your GST Return
What's new from May 2010
Data
- Added daily data download frequency for those financial institutions that are able to supply different frequencies of data
Bank Account Maintenance Screen
- New Frequency column that shows how often the account data is available to be downloaded: Monthly; Weekly; Daily; Change pending flag for accounts where a frequency change request has been sent
- New request field to change the frequency of the selected bank account/s. This request is then emailed to BankLink Client Services for processing
- Link to a list of Financial Institutions that provide Daily Data on the BankLink website
- Option to be notified when Daily Data transactions are available for download
Retrieving and Processing Data
- The System|Start New Month field has been renamed to System|Start New period to reflect the greater options
Third Party Authority Forms
- New data download frequency period options on the Third Party Authority Form in the software and pdf versions
- Option in Bulk Authority Form Import to specify data download frequency periods
What's new from March 2010
Clients page
- New Accounts link indicating how many new accounts have been downloaded
- Unattached Accounts link showing the number of unattached accounts - click the link to go to the Setup New Accounts window where you can attach the accounts to client files
System Bank Accounts
- New layout showing more account detail
- Client Code and Client Name columns showing which client file a bank account is attached to
- Charge column to show whether or not charges are exported to your practice management system
- Secure Code column to show which accounts belong to which BankLink Books Secure client
- Institution column
- Inactive column identifies bank accounts no longer receiving data from The BankLink Service
- Direct link to the Setup New Accounts window
- Link to email BankLink Client Services a delete request
- Filter the bank account list to those you're working on
- Search available on bank account number, bank account name, client code or client file name
- Choose which columns to display and in what order
- Sort on any column - in ascending or descending order

Import Third Party Authority Forms
Import an Excel file containing multiple clients' details to pre-fill authority forms, saving time if:
- Your practice is new to BankLink
- A new institution comes on board
- A practice merge or split occurs
- An additional partner needs to add their clients on
Emails
- Full colour palette to set branding colours for fonts and backgrounds
- Date and Time added to the merge fields
- Extra toolbar options
Custom Documents
- Create custom documents
- Add a custom document as a Favourite report
- Include with Scheduled Reporting for all or individual clients
Reports
- Coding Optimisation Report showing how transactions are coded within client files
- List Payees - produce in name or number order, rule a line between payees
Report Header/Footer changes
- Add a header to the first page only
- Make the first page header different to the remaining pages
- Add a footer to the last page only
- Make the last page footer different to the previous pages
Coding
- Use Find and Replace to recode transactions
Chart Mapping
- Convert a client file from one chart of accounts to another
BankLink Books
- Choose whether Books clients can edit memorisations
Interfaces
- MYOB Accounting - new General Journal export option
